HP 255 G7 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

255 g7 device manager.png

the device ids for the 'other' devices are:

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&SUBSYS_85EA103C

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&CC_048000  for the multimedia controller, and

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E6&SUBSYS_85EA103C

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E6&CC_000000  for the pci device

support assistant isn't finding them.  downloaded & installed all the drivers on the downloads page.  nothing
asked for the install media from hp - it was my last option

does anyone have a clue what this device is, or where the drivers are

Hi:

I'm pretty sure you need to install the AMD chipset driver for those devices, but I need to give you the right one based on the processor.

Does your notebook have an AMD Ryzen or  AMD 'A' series processor?

the pci device is an amd driver can be fixed by installing

AMD_Chipset_Software_win10_2.17.25.506

the multimedia device is a Conexant audio device that has trouble installing, and is a known issue

tried the fix listed here,

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05078910

however, did not solve the problem

so its down to this last device

See if this works...

Download and install this Realtek audio driver...

6.0.8924.1

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp104001-104500/sp104405.exe

If it does not automatically install the device, try manually installing the driver as follows...

Go to the device manager.  Click on the Multimedia audio controller needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp104405.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

Is there a reason why you didn't use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that would have installed W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook?

Here is an info link for how to use that utility...
