Hello.

Your laptop has Synaptics Touchpad, it is not the Forcepad model which is newer model. The firmware package applies only to HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G1 model and is not applicable to your laptop.

The touchpad hardware may have failed, but let's check couple of things, ok?

Your touchpad can be toggled on and off by double tapping on the upper left corner. The led on the touchpad is lit if the touchpad is disabled. This does not impact the pointing stick in the middle of your keyboard, however. Does it work?

If that wasn't the case, I recommend restarting your laptop and entering BIOS settings. Pressing ESC key during boot when the HP logo is shown should bring up a selection menu and F10 will take you to the BIOS settings. Do not change any settings, only verify that the touchpad works and the mouse cursor moves. If it still does not move, then this is a hardware problem and your touchpad is either broken or the connecting cable is loose/broken, and your laptop requires servicing.
