z440
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Z440 and empty 5.25 bay.

To install 3.5 hdd people here recommended any 5.25" to 3.5" drive bay adapters.Such adapters have holes for screws ( 2 or more ) but z440 doesnt have holes for screws, but "green" plastic tabs.

This tabs have pins on inner side of 5.25 bay and such adapter should have holes , so when you push adapter inside bay it should click to this tabs.

I tried many adapters but no luck.

Can somebody share some advice ?

for 5.25 devices, no tray is needed, you simply need the correct HP small black mounting screws ( 4 per bay)

Black for CD/DVD

silver for some Hard Drives

for 5.25 to 3.5 devices that need a faceplate use  488505-002 and NQ099AA (same part) again the small black screws are required

or you can use 3rd party 5.25 to 3.5trays (again the HP black round mounting screws are needed)
