Hello, I would like to know if theses components:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66GHz Socket LGA 775 processor CPU 4M 1066MHz

ASL NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 2GB GDDR3 64Bit PCI-E 2.0 Single Slot Low Profile PC GPU Video Graphics Card HDMI-compatible VGA DVI-D
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
are compatible with my hp Compaq dc5700: https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/hp-compaq-dc5700-sff-system-board

I already know I can only use the 1x slot for the gpu, and as it's not 16x, I would also like to know if it will work with this 1x --> 16x adapter: New Pcie Pci-e Pci Express Riser Card 1x To 16x GPU Usb 3.0 Extender Riser

I'm pretty sure my BIOS is 2.09v
Note: By compatible, I ask if it will work/run without any modding or motherboard change.
Thank you.

Hi:

As I posted earlier, I can't say for sure.

The card should work.

The only thing that concerns me is that even though the card fairly old, it is newer than the types of cards that were offered in the dc5700 model series.

The GT 710 normally works in a PC with a UEFI BIOS and your PC has an older legacy BIOS.

The reason I think it might work is because I have an old HP dc7800 with a legacy BIOS, and a GT 730 worked in mine, but my PC had a 'regular' PCIe x 16 slot that supports graphics cards.

That model would have come out a year after yours did, as did its companion, the dc5800.

Your companion PC was the dc7700.

I think with your PC, you are going to have to go into the BIOS and set the PCIe x1 graphics card to be the primary graphics card or the PC will continue to use the onboard Intel graphics.

Hi:

The Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66GHz processor is supported.

See page 8 of the HP Quickspecs at the link below.

ManualsLib - Makes it easy to find manuals online!

Page 12 has the supported video cards offered in the model series;

Two of them are PCI and the Nvidia card is PCIe x1.

The GT710 GPU might be too new because it is for PC's with a UEFI BIOS and it would have to fit in the PCIe x1 slot.

You could install the DVI ADD2 SDVO single head Graphics Adapter (SDVO connector) in the slot that looks like a PCIe x 16 slot so you can have digital video out.

A graphics card with a PCIe x16 connector will not work in that slot.

So,

I'm not able to use a modern GPU (ex, the 710) , even with an adapter?
If I can, which card can I use?

If I cant use an adapter,
Is HP 398333-001 DVI VIDEO ADAPTER SILICON IMAGE SIL1364 ADD2-N DUAL PAD X16 CARD the best gpu I can get for this pc?

Or is it the NVIDIA GF 8400GS 256MB dual head graphics adapter (PCIe x1)?

HP Recommended

That is correct.

Unless you want to use a PCi or PCIe x1 graphics card the only card that will work in the slot that looks like a PCIe graphics card slot is the HP card I posted.

It's not a graphics card.

It is only a device that gives you digital video from the DVI port.

It's not going to provide better graphics performance such as for video gaming.

Hey,
if I want to use a 1x "graphics card", is the ZOTAC GT 710 ZT‑71304‑20L (PCIe x1) compatible?
And since it's 1x, i'll enter it inside the 1x slot and not the fake 16x?
If it isn't, i'll accept this as a solution as you answered everything I had to ask.

Thanks!
