ProDesk 400 G2.5 SSF.
I'm having a problem with getting my PC to boot. If everything is connected ie ram, hdd, disc drive it won't boot into bios or anything. Just a black screen. The green led by the CPU is solid and the fan soon hits 100%. Doesn't that mean it thinks it's too hot. If I remove the ram and disconnect the drives. It gives me 5 post beeps and the power button flashes red. It worked when I put it in storage. I did notice some damaged masking on two traces leaving the CPU. I can't tell if they are broken or bridged. I've googled everything I can about this but can't find any solution.

a 5 beep error code is a Pre-video memory error and the recommended action is to re-seat the ram modules and if that doesn't work to try each module one at a time in case it is a faulty ram module
if the above does not resolve the issue you motherboard may have failed

Thanks. I've tried that as well swapping in known working modules. I guess I'll be buying a refurbished unit from Amazon. I'm just wanting an x86 PC to try out LinuxCNC. The old raspberry pi 4 is needed elsewhere. And I'm not relocating my gaming rig to the workshop. I might try fixing the traces before junking it though.

i strongly recommend you consider the ProDesk G3 or newer systems, also the SFF models are not really upgradeable and this limits their useful life i as the video upgrade options are almost non existent
and unless you need/require the SFF size, consider the larger mini tower models as they have a much broader upgrade path that supports things as power supply/video card upgrades that can extend the systems useful life
besides Amazon, check eBay as some venders there also sell refurb system with a warranty
