T620 Thin Client
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello everyone.

I have a T620 Thin Client.

What size are the bolts in the photo? They're the same as the M2 SATA mount.

The standard bolts (ordered on AliExpress) for the PCI mount aren't suitable, they're significantly larger.

Does anyone know the size? I can't measure with calipers.

Problem is... you don't have a micrometer and we can't eyeball those screws for size. HP has used metric M1.6, M2.0, and M2.5, maybe even M3.0. However the ones to hold down M.2 SSD NVMe drives are short and yet have a wide head. I'd go down to Ace Hardware and find their metric small size selection tray and get one of each of the three I mentioned above to try at home. They won't have wide heads but at least you'll know the metric thread diameter/pitch to get. Then, go on Amazon and eBay for your best chance to find what you need.

HP did not standardize on a single sized machine screw for this job.

P.S. Don't get stainless ones. You want ones that a magnetic screwdriver tip can hold on to. Dropping one inside the PC guarantees it will surely disappear until it shorts out something important. Don't ask how I know...

tip,........once you find the correct screw (it's not a bolt you need) the head will almost always not be the correct head size to fix this simply use a thin plastic sheet punch the correct hole then use scissors to cut out a small square of the size necessary to hold down a m.2 SSD

for the T620 you need the HP "blue" ssd mounting screw/brass standoff,  note that this brass screw/standoff part is different from the HP blue Hard Drive mounting screw

and i believe the Asus ITX mini uses a compatible SSD mounting part that will also work in the T620

see the part circled in red that's the standoff/screw the T620 uses not the longer part shown above it

and a kit with 5 different standoffs that includes a T620 compatible one

We've been chasing this issue for years now. Per DGroves you want the HP blue plastic/M2.0 thread diameter engineered hold down device. The one with black plastic is M1.6 thread diameter. You can McGuiver a solution assuming the threaded insert is a matching size. See HERE and a guy on eBay has been selling the HP blue plastic ones (M2.0 diameter) ones for about 12.00 USD. His ad is still there.
