HP 8200 elite CMT
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have HP 8200 elite CMT CPU in which 320 watts PSU is installed. I want to use AMD Radeon HD 7770 that requires more power (minimum 400 watts supply) for full performance. But the fact is, the higher watts PSU is not available for my cpu because its cables don't match with that. So I want to ask if I can use external PSU to power my GPU instead of CPU power supply. Will this harm for my PC?

Kindly help me out to solve this issue.

Thanks

Thank you for the additional information, @haseebkhan7310.

I am not a fan of using a separate PSU to power a video card.  It can cause problems.  However, here is a video that will show you how it can be done:

I suggest that you use a modular PSU so you don't have cables that you won't use.  You should watch the video to see if you feel comfortable doing it.  Make certain that you follow the instructions carefully.

@haseebkhan7310, welcome to the forum.

While I don't believe that you can use an external PSU to power the video card, I would like to hear how you propose to do it.

Thanks for quick response. I have HP 8200 Elite CMT PC that's PSU is not upgradable. while I want to use EVGA Geforce 760 which requires atleast 500 watts power supply. That's why i'm thinking to power up the video card through external PSU.

Will this work? kindly guide me about this problem. Thanks
