Please can anybody tell me if i can put an Asus Thunderbolt EX 3-TR expansion card in my HP Z620 Workstation? I want a thunderbolt slot for an apple monitor. It seems to be a PCIe 3.0 card. Is there free slot? And is it ok with PCIe 3? Or tell me another solution to do that.

Thank you very much.

well yes you can install any pci-e card that physically fits into your z620, will said card work?

well that's another question entirely

your post should say, "will a an Asus ThunderboltEX 3-TR card work in my z620?" and i'm sorry to say that the answer is mostly a big NO,......  the HP z820/z620 systems had thunderbolt 2 added rather late in the production process as such both systems have a wonky setup that requires the tbolt card to be in a specific slot so when the bios sees this specific card it configures the two motherboard usb ports for TBolt signals

it might be possible to install a TBolt 3 card into a Zx20 system if you can find the HP specific TBolt cable

you would the need to hope the asus TBolt card's firmware initializes on the HP system i suspect it will as most TBolt cards are based off of the intel reference TBolt card

better Idea:

if workable, buy a hp TBolt 2 card/cable kit and run a  TBolt 2 to 3 adapter to the monitor
