Compatible Thunderbolt / Usb-C card for Z8 G4 workstation

Hi, it seems that the suggested card for my Z8 G4 workstation is this: 3UU05AA, but it is out of production.

Can you help find the best alternative solution?

Also, I would need the confirmation that this Thunderbolt card can read both thunderbolt and any USB-C external disk.

AFAIK there is no alternative solution. There are other cards, but the cables that connect the card to the motherboard are not the same making it wothless.

note that the first eBay link also includes the GPIO card to motherboard cable which unlike the HP z420/820/z440/840 systems that used  very unique GPIO cables for each series  the later Z8 G4 GPIO cable appears to be a simple straight through cable and the cable part number was L27677-001 but HP never sold that part as a separate item

if you have the motherboard TBolt pinouts in you hardware service manual

then you can try pinning out the  cable yourself

the GPIO cable MAY CARRY DC VOLTAGE ON  IT SO DON"T JUST BLINDLY CONNECT THE DELL GPIO CABLE TO YOUR HP SYSTEM VERIFY THE PINOUT OF  IT FIRST

while the Dell T3 PCIe card (PN: 540-BCBL) is physically compatible the firmware used on each card could be different although i suspect they both use the intel firmware, also the dell GPIO cable might wired differently from the HP GPIO cable  and this possible difference is most likely the only thing that  prevents the dell TBolt 3 card from working in a HP system besides the possible cards firmware issue

you could ask a seller of the dell card if they take returns and be upfront that you want to check compatibility in a HP system
