HP Z4 Rack G5 Workstation RCTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there

I have a number of unknown devices in Device Manager:

1) Base System Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_09AB&CC_0880

2) PCI Simple Communications Controller, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7AE8&CC_0780

3) Unknown Device, HPIC0015

These Z4 machines cannot be connected to the internet.

I have downloaded all the drivers from HP Software Drivers webpage specific to the machine.

Where might I find the latest copy of the drivers above?

Many thanks

I believe the first two devices need this driver:

Intel Management Engine Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp151001-151500/sp151371.exe

I don't see that driver on the support page, so I got it from the Z4 G5 tower workstation.

The HPIC0015 needs this driver:

I found it on the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

I have zipped up the driver and attached it below.

Download and unzip the file to its folder.   Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

You will need to manually install the driver.

Go to the device manager, click on the Unknown ACPI\HPIC0015 device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

From what I can tell when looking in the driver setup information file, the device name will be HP SFU Device after the driver is installed.

Hi Paul, sorry to trouble you again.

I've cleared items 2 & 3 with the drivers you suggested, but still have an unknown device (number 1).

Would you have any further suggestions?

Many thanks

Hi:

Sorry that driver didn't work for both.

See if this works...the issue seems to be related to the Intel VMD storage controller.

I found the driver that has the ID for that device, zipped it up and attached it below.

You will need to manually install the driver like you did for the 0015 device.

The driver is actually found in the VMD>f6vmdflpy-x64 folder in the attached file:

[INTEL.NTamd64.10.0...15063]
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9A0B.DeviceDesc% = VMD_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9A0B
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_09AB.DeviceDesc% = VMD_dummy_function_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_09AB
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_467F.DeviceDesc% = VMD_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_467F
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A77F.DeviceDesc% = VMD_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A77F
