I agree with GSzabados. The advice given by the other guy seems confused and unconvincing. I tried to put a Ryzen 5 1500X in a Elitedesk G3 705 microtower and it also did not boot. The official supported cpu list all say "Pro" versions and my 1500X is not a "Pro". The R5 Ryzen PRO 1500 is essentially identical to the 1500X except in that the Pro has a locked multiplier and the 1500X an unlocked multiplier. Are these motherboards limited to "Pro" by bios? Has HP whitelisted "Pro"? Or, has HP added so much cruft to their proprietary bios menu that the found it necessary to only support "Pro" to save a little space for their cruft?

APU and RYZEN have different BIOS and cannot be upgraded
The Pinnacle PI AGESA code can be applied to the 705 G3 SMR model,
The 705 G3 model is up to the Stony PI AGESA code.
705 G3 SMR P09 (Summit Ridge or Pinnacle Ridge)
705 G3 P06 (Carrizo DDR4 or Bristol Ridge)
The SMR model is also compatible with Windows 11 due to the upgrade path to Pinnacle Ridge.
P06 model is up to Windows 10.

@Tarball8870, thanks for the detailed explanation. It all makes sense.
The only question what I have left is the following:
What is the product/model number of the SMR P09 mainboard?
(If you do have any idea, or have a picture of the mainboard.)
All **bleep** sellers on eBay, Alibaba or any marketplace uses the same description for the mainboard or computer which are sold with the A series APUs, and that states Ryzen support as well. Probably a copy and paste from one of HP's pdfs about the HP 705 G3, where they are not mentioning that it is a completely different model.
And to be honest the Maintenance manual listing only the the A series APUs is disturbing as well, as HP hasn't updated the documents and hasn't made a separate line for the Ryzen models, like 706 or something. It is all just misleading and partially correct information about a set of products which has been released worldwide.

I don't know because I don't have the SMR P09 BIOS model at hand, but it seems that there are at least two types of motherboards.
AS # 854432-001 Rev0K

I also checked the motherboard of my 705 G3 SSF P06 BIOS Carrizo DDR4, but it was the following model number.
AS # 854432-001 Rev0E
These motherboards are also sold on Aliexpress, but the former 854432-001 is cheaper and the latter 854432-002 is more expensive.
