HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF slow reboot time in legacy Bios Mode with 02.29 bios

SOLVED!!!!!

I just signed up to be able to post the solution to this problem.

I also upgraded to BIOS v2.29, and after the upgrade, my computer would hang on the reset, taking a full 2 minutes to reboot. However, you could shut it down quickly, and then restart it quickly, as normal. Only time the problem occured was when WIN10 asked it to restart. It would shut down normal, screen goes black, power LED is lit, and it just sits there for nearly 2 minutes, before it will boot back up as normal.

You can downgrade the BIOS to V2.28, it will walk through all the steps, but when finished, it will still say BIOS V2.29.

So this didn't work for me at all. 

Here is how to fix.

Turn off the PC....Then Replace PC.   ooops, just kidding...

Turn off the PC...press the power button, then start tapping the ESC key until you are presented with the boot option menu. From there, select SYSTEM SETUP.  Once inside SYSTEM SETUP, select SECURITY, inside that menu select DEVICE SECURITY. Once inside that menu, select EMBEDDED SECURITY DEVICE ---> DEVICE AVAILABLE, change this one thing to DEVICE HIDDEN.

Press F10 to save, and then go back in to double check it is HIDDEN.

Exit BIOS by saving all changes.

Reboot

Unfortunately, i cannot disable the security chip whitout stopping to use Bitlocker and it is not an option 😞

YES! it does indeed solve the problem, unless of course you would like to use the bitlocker, then TPM should not be hidden. for me i'm not using bitlocker, so disabling the TPM was the way to go, at least until 2.30 is released. Shame on you HP for not chipping in to solve a problem you created in the first place!

I have the same issue with HP 8200 SFF ( 15 computers)

The only way I found to stop eternal restart on the bios  is to boot on a USB key with acronis on It .

After acronis finish starting, (I  do nothing else, just start on the USB Key)  , I close acronis, it make the computer  restarting , and the computer can restart on windows.

I have this exact same issue, except with a HP Compaq pro 6200 SFF. I've upgraded to the same version of BIOS, but when I follow your instructions, EMBEDDED SECURITY DEVICE is on disabled and doesn't give me an option to change it. Anyone have any luck either fixing this issue on a 6200 or figuring out how to rollback the BIOS to a previous version?

Thank you swanie! Disabling the TPM solved it for us as well.
