I just upgraded an HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF to Windows 11 Pro.  I put an SSD and 16 Gb of ram in it.  It should have been OK with an i7-2600 in it.  It was, except it took several minutes to boot.  After reading through a lot of possibilities, I stumbled across a thread that said if you upgraded the bios to v2.29, the slowness was going to happen.  I then ran across a reply by  Swanie2000 that worked for me.  In his words:

Turn off the PC...press the power button, then start tapping the ESC key until you are presented with the boot option menu. From there, select SYSTEM SETUP.  Once inside SYSTEM SETUP, select SECURITY, inside that menu select DEVICE SECURITY. Once inside that menu, select EMBEDDED SECURITY DEVICE ---> DEVICE AVAILABLE, change this one thing to DEVICE HIDDEN.

Press F10 to save, and then go back in to double check it is HIDDEN.

Exit BIOS by saving all changes.

Reboot

BTW.  I had the same problem with Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 11 Home.

BTW #2.  I couldn't install any Windows from the Installation Media.  It failed on every version.  By chance, I had an image of a Windows 11 Pro build of the same model computer that went on smoothly.

Thanks Swanie2000.  I hope this helps someone else,

Tom
