Hello. So I am trying to upgrade my main hard drive. I received a Seagate 4tb Barracuda... Is it compatible with the motherboard for this pc, or is it unusable?

My pc won't load up the image from my previous hard drive that was put onto the new one and I'm wondering if this is why.

Thank you for any help or advice!

@ZeroScarlett,

A 4TB drive should be compatible: Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | hp - compaq | elite 8300 series | HP Compaq Elite 8300 Convertible Minit....

Question: what cloning software did you use (hint: Macrium Reflect freeware)?

Kind Regards,

a common issue when changing drives is that some icons are simply "LINKS" that point to where the picture is located  and which app to use to open the file

if for any reason the drive lettering changes, (C/D, and so on) these links will point to the wrong location

were the pictures stored locally on your drive or stored in the cloud?

I don't know what program was used, my husband had a friend do it.

Also when I say image I mean an image was made of my oldhard drive, not a photo image

hi

try to find out what has been done, with what?
"I don't know what program was used, my husband had a friend do it."

Did he test the computer before, or did he just make the copy for you, without having tried?
Can you replace the original Hdd, , and check if it starts?

You may need to reboot the disk image.

@ZeroScarlett,

Yea, I understood your (Windows) 'image' reference.

Based on my experience, what I think happened is that the cloning of your original hard drive to your new 4TB drive wasn't done right.  If it was done right, you would have a perfect one-to-one (Windows 'image') copy, fully bootable and otherwise would be as functional as your original drive.
