HP Device Manager
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and older

Hello,

We are using HP Device Manager to manage HP Thin Client (T430 and T530, for now).

The users to access HPDM were imported from AD. We had to change, in AD, the name of OU's and users location. After that users cannot authenticate to HPDM. If we delete older users and import new users from AD the HPDM crashes, even root can't login.

How can we update users, after AD OU's changes? I could not see information about this in the admin manual.

Thanks in advance.

Pedro Paixão

If HPDM is 4.7 series version. Please find a whitepaper about LDAP from:

-> Console > Help > White Papers ... > WP_Troubleshooting-Guide-LDAP_HPDM-4.7.pdf

Hello,

I've already read this manual, but it don't help me. I need to know how to manage LDAP users when they are moved between OU's on Active Directory.

Thanks,

Hello, I cannot reproduce the issue with the below steps: 1. Create a user1 under OU1 in AD. 2. user1 can login normally. 3. Create OU2. 4. Move user1 from OU1 to OU2. 5. user1 login failed. 6. Delete user1 and re-import user1. 7. user1 and root can both login normally. Is there any misunderstanding about the steps or some more detail operate? If no, can you provide the debug level server log file? Regards, John

Hi Pedro,

If the users keep moving between groups under your AD structure, I would suggest you import groups instead of users.  With groups imported all users under imported groups can login without any HPDM change.

Yes, groups and filters can help different console users focus on different units.  This is actually the best practice we recommend.
