Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I connected my HP E27q G4 monitor (HP Eye Ease) to a Lenovo Yoga thinkpad via a Thinkpad universal USB- C dock station on windows 11.

Unfortunately, the maximum resolution is NOT possible; instead it is restricted to 1280 * 720.

Another HP monitor (HP E273q) is connected and working perfectly fine.

All firmware has been updated.

Please support.

Thanks!

Ahmed

Hi @AhmedT88 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

When connected to “universal USB-C” port, the resolution drops to 1280 × 720 because the USB-C connection is not providing a full DisplayPort (DP Alt Mode) video signal or is bandwidth-limited. Below are the few reasons

-The USB-C port doesn’t support DisplayPort Alt Mode

-Not all USB-C ports carry video.

-Many “universal USB-C” ports are data-only (USB 2.0/3.0) or support only Power Delivery.

-Without DP Alt Mode, Windows uses a fallback (DisplayLink emulation or generic driver), limiting resolution to 720p or 1080p.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
