HP EliteBook 850 G8 Notebook PC (1G1X7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP EliteBook 850 G8 (4L8X9EC), bought second hand. I already replaced the (bad) memory with real HP memory (64GB).

My internal battery needs to be replaced, as I can't work without battery charger, so I presume the internal battery is bad.

But now my USB mouse (with cable) doesn't work anymore. I run Win11 (no 24H2 as this is not compatible).

I see in the device manager an exclamation mark next to Firmware: HP T76 System Firmware. I also see the mouse doesn't get any power (no lights on mouse). Switching to second USB port doesn't solve the problem, this USB port doesn't seem to work neither.

How can I fix US

I fixed it:

1st I ran "sp148975.exe" (system default settings) - using HP Support Assistant

2nd I ran "sp152777.exe". So I did a Bios and firmware upgrade from version 01.14 (I believe) to HP T76 version 01.17.01.

Laptop started cooling a lot. And I kept having a black screen.

After 1 night leaving the laptop to cool down, it started again this morning 🙂
