HP ProDesk 600 G3 Small Form Factor PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear All!

I have got a new HP ProDesk 600 G3 Small Form Factor PC  just a year ago and now upset that it doesn't support Windows 11
due to Core I7 7700 CPU

Q1. Are there any recommended options on upgrade (like this Motherboard + this CPU) in order to make this
PC compatible with Windows 11 and minimize the cost of such upgrade ?

Q2. Is there any official "trade-in" program at HP so that i can exchange my current PC plus some extra payment
to a new one which supports  Windows 11  ?

thank you

Yuriy O.

the license will xfer over

as win 11 is not officially out, nobody can say for sure if the release ver of 11 will  auto update security and the feature updates

this mini tower sff system uses a non standard motherboard,......need i say more?

i personally would stick to win 10 and in 4 more years then decide if replacing the system is worthwhile to you as it will then be 5 years of use you will have had on it

your HP ProDesk 600 G3 Small Form Factor PC was a older model no longer in current production when you bought it a year ago, and that's why the price was cheaper than newer models that were newer

if the pc has reached 5 years from date of manufacturing (when it was released) you can consider that the PC is EOL

your current windows 10 system is going to be supported till 2025

no you can not make it windows 11 compatible, although ms has stated that as long as you have TPM 2.0 you can manually install win 11, however a win 10 to 11 upgrade via ms updates will not be offered

your system DOES support a TPM upgrade from 1.2 to 2.0

only one 7th gen CPU is officially supported per MS

Thank you for the response. 3 more questions:

1) If I install Windows 11 on top of this PC manually, will the Windows 11 still remain licensed (current windows 10 is) ,
or i will have to bye separate windows 11 license ?

2) Will the Windows Update service be available after Windows 11 manual installation ?

3) Why it is not possible to replace Motherboard + CPU from 8-th generation? Does this mean that there is no newer PC using the same form factor ? In this case I would probably have to think is it a good idea to buy HP PC's at all and for future avoid this vendor.  Or better avoid buying Microsoft Windows 🙂

Thank you
