HP ProDesk 600 G4

Hello,

according to the Maintenance and Service Guide there is the possibility to mount 2.5 drives in the Drive cage right next to the 3.5 drive - great solution!

But now I saw a video from a G4 MT which did not had this mounting space - actually the middle piece of sheet metal was missing and also the holes were different.

Video: (at 8min 6 sec): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lm-cZ1O2EE#t=8m06

Does this means, that there are different Drive cages depending on if the model was equipped with or without an 2.5 drive in the first place?

Thank you for any clarification!

Best regards,

Martin

he picture you show is for the Microtower G4 and the #2 area shown is for the slimline optical drive

https://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1048814307.pdf  (page 38)

you can mount one 3.5 and two 2.5 drives in the empty area on the top using a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter

(the pict you provided shows one 3.5 already installed)

the motherboard supports one SSD using a M.2 slot and one wireless card M.2 slot (wireless M.2 can not be used for SSD)

this video for the 600 G2 does however show the area next to the optical drive in better detail and it does support two 2.5 drives without using a adapter so it may be possible to order this drive bracket for use in the G4/G5

the area to the left of the optical drive is not for 2.5 drives, it's where you attach the mounting screws for the 5.25/3.5 adapter
