Hi friends! Recently bought and upgraded an older HP Prodesk 600 G3 MT, and now all that's left to do is upgrade the PSU and GPU. I've been following @NonSequitur777's guide which has been most helpful, and was hoping I could ask him or anyone else who has experience upgrading this machine if a MSI GTX 1660 Ventus XS OC would be compatible with my case. The dimensions are 8.03 inches (204 mm) x 5.04 inches (128 mm).I'm a little worried about the height of the card, which I have not been able to find much information about. Going to order this power supply as well, so any tips on its installation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and consideration!

Yes, the MSI GTX 1660 Ventus XS OC is compatible with and would fit in your HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT.
The GTX 1660 is a fine card for sure, but if it is the case that you haven't purchased this card yet, consider a smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 4060 such as this model instead, as these cards are currently priced very competitively (under $305) and pack a substantially bigger punch than the GTX 1660: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-4060-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1660/4150vs4038.
The 400-watt power supply you mentioned can easily power the 115-watt TDP RTX 4060.

That should work just fine.
If you don't mind, please provide feedback once you upgraded your HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT!

I will! I noticed in another post a user (@raynebc) used a power supply with a 7 pin, 3 line p2 connector and ran into a "power supply fan not detected error", but reported the psu fan still functioned(?). Would you happen to know if this would impact the safety/performance of the device outside of just the boot error? I only ask because this variant of the upgraded PSU seems more readily available.

I believe the 7-pin 3-wire P2 connector will still work, but in my opinion, I would avoid this particular power supply. -Didn't you mention that you were going to order the 7-pin 6-wire P2 power supply anyway?

I did end up ordering a psu with the correct 7 pin connector, it will arrive Friday!
To stay in budget I ended up sticking with a that GTX 1660 model mentioned prior. Found one for $60 on FB Marketplace and felt it was too much of a steal to pass up. After slotting the GPU in into the motherboard and attempting to put the hard drive/dvd carriage back into the device I found that unfortunately the carriage both blocks the 8 pin and does not sit flush. I am planning to either A) take the carriage out the of machine, or B) modding the carriage to allow the GTX 1660 adequate space. I will keep you posted!

Looks like you'll have to do some "modding". You can either take out the drives cage altogether and then using double-sided sticky tape and/or zip ties to secure any SATA drive(s) you got, or you'll have to cut out/pry lose a section of the drives cage to make the graphics card fit. If you plan to do the latter, please be careful not to hurt yourself.
The HP ProDesk 600 G3 and G4 MT were upgrade projects of mine, and I applied a fair amount of modding myself, such as seen on page 4: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-HP-ProDesk-600-G3-MT/....

With the help of my roomate, some elbow grease, and a dremel I was able to mod the drive cage. It now provides the GTX 1660 adequate room and sits flush. I've included some pictures below. I'm now waiting on the PSU to finish this build. I'm a little worried there might not be enought room between the side panel and the 8 pin port for the connector, but will tackle that later should it become an issue.

Outstanding -well done!
One suggestion: I would recommend using a flexible PCIe 8-pin power connector, such as this purchase option: Amazon.com: SinLoon 8-Pin Extension Cord PCIE 8 Pin Female to Right Angle Male PCIE Express Power Ad....
Probably the "right" style option, but you'll have to ascertain that.
