Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

With Support Assistant 8, I had to kill my virtual adapters for Hyper-V to get Support Assistant to work (see https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktops-Archive-Read-Only/HP-Support-Assistant-You-are-not-connected-... as an example). Otherwise, I get the red circle with the line through it and it sits at "Connecting to HP servers".

This seemed to have been fixed when I upgraded to 9, but now it is broken again with version 9.19.52.0. This is on multiple desktops (Elites and Z2s).

Please fix. I don't know any simple way to briefly remove the virtual networking without completely destroying it. And really, we shouldn't have to.

we need the exact model of your computer, and the product number
To find it follow this

and for a laptop
HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Product Name or Number? | HP® Customer Support

Give the full name with the product number P / N

this is not a model:
HP Desktop M01-F1xxx
the requested product number must look like this
Product Number: 9EE50AA # ABA
the model corresponding to this number will therefore be
HP Desktop - M01-F1033wb

Two desktops with the issue are 4DP08UT#ABA and 2YW30AV. Windows 10 21H2 19044.1889 for the Z.

After I removed the virtual networking, it seems to have updated itself along with the drivers it knew it had to update, but couldn't download. So it is now at 9.20.22.0.

I don't know when the next time is it will need updates, but I will update the post if/when that happens or when I get the Elite up and running again. But that's another story.

updates may take time, or simply not be made anymore
but in case of problems, use the product page directly

I tried that, but it didn't show me what ones needed to be updated, just a whole bunch of download.

Case in point:

Intel WLAN on the web 22.120.0.3 Reva.A. Same in the device manager.

Synaptics HD Audio Driver 8.65.319.170 Rev.A same as the device manager.

And so on...

There's also devices list that I don't have like Bluetooth.

It seems to be just a listing of the latest of every possible driver.

So indeed, it can be tedious
If you do not know your configuration, because indeed, this often gives drivers for other peripherals, of the same type of computer, these are made in different configurations
But see, what you mention if you have a version of your device manager, identical, what is proposed, then, it is probably that there is no other .. for the moment

I understand, but the point of Support Assistant is to provide newer drivers for the devices you have installed.

The website is at best a mediocre work around, so I appreciate it, but it's not worth the tedium of manually checking the site regularly and comparing all the driver versions. I would just as soon use something like Snappy Driver.

sorry, I know very well how hp support assistant works!
It hasn't given me drivers for my device for quite a while
In fact, it searches based on your models, and in most cases, it won't give you any other drivers than what's on the product page, so nothing more!
Only in very rare cases, it will find a new driver that will not be visible in the product page!
Whether it is the product page, therefore, or hp support assistant, often it will not be useful to look for updates, every day, every week, once in a while it will be enough!
I do not know this software, but in general it is better to use the drivers designed for the model
I guess it offers drivers not necessarily from HP, in some cases it may not be suitable
Sometimes I use detection here, it offers Hp drivers, but are not always suitable either
Be that as it may, from the moment the computer is running, an update does not always bring anything useful!
But do as I say not as I do!
