XW 9400
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi all, I have a HP XW9400 Workstation with 2x AMD Opteron 2220 Processors which are Liquid Cooled. I wanted to know if I could upgrade to  Quad or Six core processors on this machine. According to a QCB stamp on the side panel or the machine it states "2008-4-14" which could be the manufacturing date. 15464141016062039722027.jpgThe front of the machine

the listed cpu's that hp supports is plainly listed in their "quickspecs"

while other cpu's in the same series that were released after hp decided on which cpu's they would sell with the system might work  there is no support from hp if you try this

Hi again, I wanted to know if the AMD Opteron Processor Model 2427 2.2GHz with 2.4GHz and Quad-Core AMD Opteron 2393SE/ 3.1 GHz are supported for my XW9400. I wanted to know if it's a yes or no for these CPU's and if they're supported on my machine. I've checked one of the PDF files and saw these model processors.

and again,...... if the cpu is not listed in the HP quickspecs then it's not a supported HP processor

"If the BIOS is v04.02 or later, and has a boot block date of 04/06/09 or later, the system supports 2200-series rev. F2&F3, 2300-series rev. B3&C2, 2400-series rev. D0 processors. "

and since you have not provided just where you read that your cpu is supported i'm unable to comment on this

Hi, sorry for the late reply but my BIOS revision is 3.12 and the boot block date is 10/12/07.

I've gotten the CPU from the supported Processors.

Thanks
