Hi all,

I’ve noticed that my HP Z2 Mini G1a’s system fan is very frequently audible, even when the machine is completely idle. It’s not a full-speed roar, just a moderate whoosh that shouldn’t really be there at idle.

System details:

  • BIOS, chipset, and graphics drivers all fully up to date

  • Windows 11 Pro, current build

  • BIOS performance mode set to Quiet (no effect)

  • CPU usage at idle: 0–5 %

  • Both NVMe SSDs around 28 °C at idle

  • Unit is new and free of dust

I added a second M.2 SSD soon after setup, so I’m not certain whether this behaviour existed before that.

Has anyone else seen this on the G1a, or found any way to make the fan truly idle down when the system is cool and under no load?

Thank you.
