HP Z2 Tower G9 Workstation Desktop PC (4Y0H8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

when starting the Desktop the fan is going directly to maximum output.

With HP tools i checked everything. The tools do not report any mistake or missing update.

Windows Energy options checked. Fan output also goes to the max when i boot the device into BIOS GUI mode and wait.

Latest BIOS is also installed.

Any idea to bring the fan down to normal mode ?

Would a BIOS factory reset help ?

Greetings

Carsten

Did you ever find a fix for this, I'm having the same issue for a SFF too.

Hey not sure if you sorted this, but just had the same issue with my Z2 Tower.

If you go to the firmware downloads for this model. Go to the BIOS option and go to download, but then look for the previous versions. I went back to v3.03 and that has solved the issue.

I believe the issue is actually the Intel Management Firmware, as I tried rolling back 1 version to 3.04.7 from 3.04.8 and that made no difference.

Have you also got a PCIe Graphics Card installed, as when I was testing, if I removed that on the new firmware the fans stopped too.

However the onboard DisplayPorts had issues driving my 3440x1440 monitor, which the shouldn’t do, but this seems to be another issue with this platform.

Rolling the BIOS back to 03.03.17 fixed the same symptom for me as well.  Thank you "TheJohnson" for posting your solution to the cooling fans at maximum output issue.
