Hi,
I have a HP Z420 workstation with the latest BIOS J61 v0.3.96 and cannot get my AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT to work in the top PCIe3.0 x16 slot, but am able to get it to work in the PCIe3.0 x8 slot; FYI, this card is wired electrically PCIe.4.0 x8 which maybe causing compatibility issues. I'm certain the top PCIe3.0x16 slot is not defective since I was able to get both an Nvidia RTX 2060 (a PCIe3.0 x16 card) and RTX A4000 (a PCIe4.0 x16 card) to work fine. When I turn on the HP Z420 with the RX 6600 XT in the top PCIe3.0 x16 slot, the monitor is black, no text output/boot messages.
In addition, I've tried booting the system with the RX 6600 XT still in the top PCIe3.0 x16 slot and an Nvidia GT 710 in another slot as well as the monitor cable being connected to it. I'm able to get display output through the GT 710 and able to boot into Windows 10; the RX 6600 XT does not show up in device manager.
Any ideas on what settings I should change in the BIOS to get the RX 6600 XT to run in the top PCIe3.0 x16 slot or is this a motherboard/GPU compatibility out of the scope of this forum?
Thanks in advance
