I just purchased my second Z8 Fury G5. It came without a video card. I added an nVidia K4200 and tried firing it up. It will not boot to BIOS. After a lot of troubleshooting, I decided to put the RTX A4000 from my other G5. Boots/works perfectly.

Called Workstation Support. They tell me I have to use one of the supported video cards. Seems HP has blocked use of non-supported GPUs.  Is there some fix/workaround? I do not need a high end card or even entry level one ($$$), eventually I can go headless for my application.

HP support HAS TO TELL YOU to use HP approved video cards in their workstations as HP support will not provide support for non approved parts that are used in their systems

yes you can use non approved video cards in your HP Z8 system however the video cards must be fully UEFI compatible as this system no longer has bios support for the older legacy based vbios found on older video cards

your K4200 card was released in 2014 using the "Kepler" architecture and is uefi but which revision?
