Hi,

Is HP Z8 G4 is compatible with Xeon Platinum 8273CL?

https://browser.geekbench.com/search?q=platinum+8273cl

Is a special Bios needed?

Thank you

EDIT:

Sorry... somehow my original search got me to an incorrect processor, and I've deleted the bad info. What is left is valid:

The latest QuickSpecs released 5 days ago for the Z8 G4 is HERE . I don't see that processor listed but there is one Z8 G4 running it in the link you provided and also more Z6 G4 workstations showing that also in your link. The Z6 G4 and the Z8 G4 run the same BIOS versions.  This would not be the first time that a processor which is not listed in the HP QuickSpecs will work but not be officially "supported" by HP.  HP has to do very thorough internal conformance testing before they will release their list of "supported" hardware so they pick and choose what hardware they'll expend that effort and expense for. We have to do our own conformance testing sometimes... let us know how it goes.

In such a situation I'd always want to upgrade the motherboard to the latest BIOS (2.91, released 4/5/23) before rather than after putting in the new/used processor.

Hi,

I think that you have the wrong information about that cpu. The info I got is the following:

https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Xeon/Intel-Xeon%208273CL.html

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+Platinum+8273CL+%40+2.20GHz&id=3923&cpuCount=2

Thank you.
