I want to run a 7900xtx reference graphics card through the HPZ800, what is the maximum power of the 1110W power supply?

How many graphics cards could I run?

And what is the maximum power of the 6 pin connectors?

first of all, your video card is overkill for the z800 the video card will not run at peak speed due to the z800 being unable to provide data as fast as the video card requests it

these workstations do not use the more common "single rail" type power supplies where you can draw the max wattage the supply can provide on any power connector

HP used a "multi rail" type power supply in the Zx800/Z820/840 line of workstations this type of supply  has a set wattage limit on each power subsection and all subsections totaled up equals the stated wattage

HP offered a stock 850 watt and a upgraded 1110 watt supply for the z800

the 850W supply has a single 18A 12V rail for the graphics card,

the 1100W  has two-18A 12V rails for graphics power

as a example: 215W/12V = 17.9 Amps so even with the 1110 watt supply you can only safely run one 7900xtx card off both the gpu power rails

systems using dual cpu's and addin cards and drives/ram were fitted with the upgraded 1110 supply

the stock 850 watt supply was used in base single cpu configs with only one or two low power pci-e cards installed

and a low to midrange video card

your 7900xtx card can draw up to 240 watts which exceeds the 850 watt supply's "GPU" power rail output

the 1110 watt supply will work if the card is not overclocked, you will also need two "quality" 6 to 8 pin adapters

and you must split the gpu power load across both of the gpu power lines one line will have two 6 pin power connectors and the sec line will have only one USE BOTH POWER LINES do not connect the video card to only one power line that has the two connectors

HP speced up to two  video cards

Thank you for the answer.

Do you know how many watts go through a 6 pin, if I use both 6 pins?

Because standard 6 pin only has 75 watts?

I could add two Molex and 2 x 2 times Sata to 6 Pin PCIE power adapters. What would be the maximum watt output?

HP Recommended

did you not read that even one 7900 card is overkill for the z800? as such two cards  for video usage is quite pointless

also sata to gpu adapters  vary in quality and cheaply made adapters can be prone to overheating and catching file depending on how they are made (google this if you want details)

Yes, I now have a graphics card of this type, the HP Z800 I can get cheap.

Unfortunately, the manual doesn't say how many watts I have available in total for a graphics card with adapter ect.

In this video, for example, a Molex is used and the two 6 pins are combined into one 8 pin.

Why do they connect the two 6 pins together, because of the heat of the cables?

go back a REREAD my previous reply's your  last post is gibberish (does not make sense)

I want to run a 7900xtx reference graphics card through the HPZ800

already told you that the 1110 watt supply will support this card so why are you still asking?

what is the maximum power of the 1110W power supply?

HUH???? this question is self answered, as the max rating of a 1110 watt supply is 1110 watts

How many graphics cards could I run?

as many as you want to,

however for the z800, as many slots you have free (they do make pci-e x1 vid cards)

however the z800 only has two pci-e x16 slots (when using dual cpu's) and HP only supported up to two

And what is the maximum power of the 6 pin connectors?

again HUH?, the plastic 6 pin gpu connectors will support quite a bit of wattage and are not a issue unless you have a short or another issue that raises the thermal load around the connector

Mit der maximalen Last wie es es nur geht, das widerspricht ihre frühere Aussage: Sie sagen Zitat:"as a example: 215W/12V = 17.9 Amps so even with the 1110 watt supply you can only safely run one 7900xtx card off both the gpu power rails"

actually I'm German by birth, and no posting in german on a english forum will not result in a increase in reply's

a helpful tip is to post that english is not your primary language when you make your first post

and note that i gave you what the z800 power supply can output on the "GPU Rail" in both amps and watts however you seem to not have understood this ?

perhaps it's due to the english to german translation?

i also stated that a non HP supply would most likely be a single rail design able to output it's stated capacity on any power connector, and again this seems to have not been understood

i've done what i can to help you, however taking your frustration out on me due to you being unable to make use/understand what i've written is not the way to convince people to help..........

perhaps someone else will take the time to try helping you

Dell PCI-E x8 SSD Adapter Card 2x M.2 PCI-E x4 NVMe - NTRCY | eBay

AXAGON PCEM2-S PCIE NVME M.2 Adapter.
