Z800 Workstation

Hi,

I picked one of these up recently and the previous owner had literally chopped off the data part of the cables from the 3.5" bay cable assembly, leaving only the power part (to use the standard fan-out cables on an add-in disk controller)!!

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement, as well as the right part to plug them in to the fan-out cable coming from the disk controller. Struggling on eBay UK!

Thanks

Google:

z800 Cable Assembly - Hard Drive Power and Data Connections

Search eBay for:

464948-001

I would not be surprised if one from a Z820 fit in a Z800...  The Blind-Mate receiver at the rear of the drive drawers likely does not change over time.  The power feed in might change, but why?

the cables are the same between the z800/z820 hotswap drive bays

to connect a PCI-e raid card to the 4 female hotswap cables you need a sff-8087  FORWARD type sas/sata cable, and these are usually Female ends so a SATA male to male adapter is needed i personally recommend the adaptec ASR-6805T 6GBps card, as it will do JBOD and Raid, and uses a supercap instead of a battery when the optional cache module is installed

or you can locate the HP sff-8087 to male SAS/SATA cable

newer raid cards are not worthwhile on the z800 unless you get them very cheap!

ps: i have a custom z800 win 10 restore image if interested PM me if interested
