HP Recommended
Z800 with two Xeon X5690
Ubuntu LTS

Hi,

i have been using my HP Z800 under Ubuntu for several months now. Somehow, periodically, Ubuntu does not want to boot (or at least it’s graphical interface) and I am stuck with screens I don’t understand. So far I eventually ended up reinstalling the OS every time but it is not a reliable solution and kind of a hassle.

would anyone have an idea how I can solve the issue? With my young experience on Linux and this system, I think I understand it is an issue with the driver of my graphic cards (forgot the model, it is a low end factory one, 1Gb or 1.5Gb by Nvidia) and it’s driver that Ubuntu does not manage to load. Maybe there has been some upgrades of the driver and it broke my setup…?

any thoughts?

thank you for your help 🙂
