ZX123,
1. What is the model of the system and OS?
2. Were there any specific error messages?
3. Is it possible to boot to BIOS/Setup?
4. This may be the fairly common irql_not_less_or_equal error:
https://appuals.com/fix-irql_not_less_or_equal-error-windows-10/
5. However, that error will present a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) screen listing the irql_not_less_or_equal, so the problem may be something else. If the problem appears to be spurious, in the absence of more information, consider treating this as a possible phishing or ransomware attack. Place the data drive in an exterior enclosure, run antivirus and anti-malware. If it's clean, consider copying to another exterior drive with the system disconnected from the Web to have the latest full backup in case of problems.

Hi BambiBoomZ,
Thank you for replying to my question,
Reinstalled Win 10 and it is working OK at the moment, this was a 7year old pavilion DT, migrated from Win 7/8 which was working fine up to about ten months ago, then a single update from somewhere turned it into a virtual cabbage taking six mins to boot, and longer sometimes. Never got to the bottom of it. All windows updates were complete, before I got that imediate shutdown message. After I updated windows, I got the same message again, but the shut down did not happen, and the computer came back on line. It is now booting in about three mins, so will put up with that.
Anyway thanks again,
Regards Colin
