Hi,

I have a HP Z4 G4 desktop computer running Windows 11 fully updated. After an OS/BIOS update a couple weeks ago, it has been stuck on a loop:

  • The computer reboots (Protected by HP Sure Start screen).
  • It will then show a "System BIOS Update Final step of BIOS update is in progress" screen where I shouldn't turn the computer off.
  • Black screen, extremely slow reboot, and back to that "System BIOS" screen.

I cannot get to the BIOS at all, nor Windows. If I press esc or F10, the usual "entering setup menu" text at the bottom left shows up, but then I hear a "click" and the computer reboots and turns off the monitor.

I tried USB and PS/2 keyboards, same thing. I tried the press Win key+B and power button, but that simply turns the computer off.

Any idea? Thank you!

Hi,

I resolved this issue by pressing the CMOS reset button on the motherboard. I rebooted and was able to get to the BIOS and boot back to Windows 11. Thanks!
