So I purchased the 24 pin to 18 pin adapter mentioned above. The PC power up and run fine with it. However, I can't put the PC to sleep. If I do, the PC will just shut off, as in lost of power. Any suggestions on what I can do? I can modify that adapter if needed. Thanks in advance!

Well, at least you got yours to power up...I used an 18 pin adapter and can't even get it that far.

Well I sold the machine so I can't check it. But there was one issue with my machine whenever I shutdown so it will never power ON a in normal way by power button. So i was using corsair psu then i have reset the power from psu. There is check button on my PSU so I have to click it three to four times. It was like motherboard holiding some static current which needed to reset.

You can just search HP z420 manual you find all the information.

I found a pinout of 18pin and a front panel. But with the power of the processor and memory a problem arose. On z820 another pinout
