Yeah, I understand that this won't work based on what has happened, I purely just want to understand why this is happening. I am still not convinced this has anything to do with power, as I don't think (although I wouldn't know) that a large amount of power is fed through the slots/PCIe power cables at boot time. Had this happened after I put the whole system on full load, then I would be inclined to agree.

 

In any case, I will get another board and keep using it with just the 5 GPUs, as I have proven that to work reliably. Since I have nothing to lose on these bricked boards, I might try a motherboard solder reflow by heating them up to see if they can be revived.
