Hello. I have HPE Smart Array P222 Controller, in RAID 5 configuration (4x 3TB) using FreeNas, on my Hp Proliant Gen 8.
Two questions are on my mind, and concern:
- Lets say one day P222 fails and my data stays stuck on those drives. Would it be enough just to plug in new P222 and it will work? My thought was like: inserting new Controller and restore dataset saved from FreeNas. Is it so "easy" or i need to pay attention to some other things?
- What is normal temperature for P222? Server says current temp. is ~63c, should i provide it with extra cooling system or this is ok?
- Thank you.

wrong company, this is HP's web site
you want HP enterprise, HP split some time ago into two seperate companies HP does not make or support these cards any longer
https://www.hpe.com/us/en/home.html
to breifly answer your question, yes you can usually swap raid cards, however make sure the firmware revision on both is the same these cards are custom HP items so flashing them may require the exact same hardware as they were designed to be used in
firmware can be found on HPE's site but may not be free to download (it might also be available elsewhere google for it)
