First, I'm very new so I apologize in advance if this is the incorrect forum for this question but I wasn't sure where else to ask..
My employer provided me a Thunderbolt G2 Docking station along with a Probook. Since i'm working at home, I would like to hook up the docking station to my personal desktop PC (not an HP product), but I cannot get my computer to recognize the dock at all.
My goal is to feed my ethernet cable to the dock, and then have both my laptop and PC receive internet from the dock.
I'm using the USB-C port on the dock to to a USB 3.0 port on my PC motherboard. I've also installed all of the drivers from the product page on my computer but it made no difference. I cannot get internet from the docking station, nor get my computer to recognize the dock.
Is this possible or am I on a fools errand?

rule 1. when asking for help details count!
while you did a nice job trying to explain the problem, failing to state the pc or laptop make/model (or motherboard) the HP probook line covers quite a few models and not all of them may support a TBolt dock
