HP Z440 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have an HP Z440 workstation that doesn't proceed past the HP logo screen. I used F10 and found these errors on the UEFI options page:

Intel RSTe 4.6.3.1006 sSATA Driver

RAID Volumes: Volume 0, RAID10(RAID0+1), 884.9GB, Failed (Bootable: NO)

--> Port 0, ST500DM002-1SB10A, 465.7GB -- Status: RAID Member
--> Port 1, ST500DM002-1SB10A, 465.7GB -- Status: RAID Member
--> Port 2, ST500DM002-1SB10A, 465.7GB -- Status: Error Occurred
--> Port 3, ST500DM002-1SB10A, 465.7GB -- Status: Error Occurred

I will replace hard drives if they are dead, but wanted to try rebuilding the RAID first in case that resolves the issue. However, the Intel RST utility does not come up when pressing CTRL-I on the HP logo screen. Is there any other way to access it?

this is a limitation of the intel raid it's not actually a true raid hardware wise and while you can boot from it, it's not really a full featured raid controller and lacks many features that a true raid card has

all you can do is during the boot sequence enter the computer's bios and access the intel raid section and note which drive(s) are offline, depending on the board makers bios, you should have a option to check/rebuild a array

since you have a raid 10 setup you will have four drives, two drives are in raid 0 and two drives are in raid 1 thes four drives are then merged into a raid 10

i strongly recommend you read up on raid levels 0/1/5/10 before trying to repair your raid

usually intel raid requires you to break the array before removing a failed drive  (raid 0/1/5) raid 10 is a bit different because it combines raid 0 and 1 into another raid

Thanks so much for taking the time to write up the explanation -- very helpful.
One of the two defective drives came back online for long enough to get into Windows and save the data onto an external hard drive. Then went back to error state.
Will try to read up on the raid 10 rebuild as you recommended in case it starts working again and can be repaired while swapping in new drives.
