I have an HP ZBook Studio G8 Mobile and I'm having a charging issue. I’ve plug in the charger but the battery indicator doesn’t light up. Then I tried turning the laptop off and reconnecting the charger — the battery indicator lights up, but the battery still doesn’t charge. Sometimes the battery starts charging, but it takes several hours for the laptop to detect that the charger is connected. Please help.

Hello @mrhnattala ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

If your HP ZBook Studio G8 Mobile is experiencing charging issues, here are some steps that can help identify and possibly resolve the problem:

  1. Check the Power Source and Connection:

    • Ensure that the power outlet is functional. You can test this by connecting another device.
    • Verify that the charger is securely connected to both the power source and the laptop.
  2. Inspect the Charger and Cables:

    • Examine the charger and cables for any visible damage such as cuts, frays, or bent connectors.
    • If possible, try using another compatible charger to see if the issue persists.
  3. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery if it is removable.
    • Press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
    • Reinsert the battery (if removable) and reconnect the charger, then try powering on the laptop.
  4. Check Battery Health:

    • Use the HP Support Assistant tool to check the health of the battery:
      1. Open the HP Support Assistant application.
      2. Navigate to the "My Devices" tab and click on your device.
      3. Run the battery check to see if there are any issues reported.
  5. Update BIOS and Drivers:

    • Ensure that your system BIOS and drivers are up to date:
  6. Test in Windows Safe Mode:

    • Boot your laptop into Safe Mode to determine if background processes are affecting the charging:
      • Restart your laptop and repeatedly press F8 during the boot process, then select "Safe Mode with Networking."
  7. Check for Updates:

    • Ensure your operating system is up to date:
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates."
  8. Contact HP Support:

    • If the issue remains unresolved, there might be a hardware problem that requires professional assistance. Reach out to HP Support for further diagnosis and repair options.

These steps should help identify and potentially fix the charging issues with your HP ZBook Studio G8 Mobile. If you continue to experience problems after attempting these solutions, professional servicing may be necessary.
