Dear Sir,

 

P62 Bios update not compactable with Hp Z4 g4 Workstation, curent processor is xeos w series need to upgrrade intel i9-x series.

Please advise the possbility for the Bios Update from HP P61 v02.82 to HP P62 V02.82 because for the possiblity for the Intel® Core™ i9-10980XE Extreme Edition Processor upgrade from intel xeon W-2223, pleasebio update not sopprting.jpegadvise

I have the same question. I need to upgrade one of our machines and we purchased an i9-10940x. I tried the HP G4 bios update to p62 and got the same screenshot as above.

It is my understanding that the HP Z4 G4 motherboards for the Intel Xeon W Processors are quite different from those for the Intel Core X-series Processors. Even the backplanes for these two different versions of the Z4 G4 workstations are different... see pages 2 and 3 of the HP QuickSpecs released 1/1/22 (v40), attached below.

 

I'm wondering why you think a firmware/BIOS upgrade for one motherboard would work on a different motherboard?

the motherboards are indeed quite different as the Xeon motherboard supports different hardware than the intel core motherboard

 

go look at the HP quickspecs for each system and you will see the differences
