HP Z2 Tower G4 Base Model Workstation
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, my current workstation has 2 x 8gb of memory in slots 1 and 2, can I add 2 x 16gb in slots 3 and 4? Or do all modules need to be same size? Thanks

@Hobholt,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Let me say that for best RAM performance, one should use identical RAM modules (same brand, model and capacity).

For an HP Z2 G4 workstation, the RAM placement configuration involves using all four available DIMM slots -or at least in pairs, typically filling slots 1 and 3 first (the white slots), then 2 and 4 (the black slots), to ensure optimal dual-channel memory performance.

If you want to use 2x8GB and 2x16GB RAM sticks, I would place them like this: (slots 1 through 4) 16GB, 8GB, 16GB, 8GB.
