I wanted to know that is my HP Workstation xw4600 compatible with SSE4.2 because many applications require that and also how to install it on to my CPU

Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below.

 

On the left side of the summary report window that opens will be a 'Features' section for the processor your PC has.

 

If the SSE4.2 feature is shown in green, then your PC supports SSE4.2.

 

If the feature is grayed out or shown in red, then it does not support SSE4.2.

no the xw4600 cpu's are not sse 4.2 compatible

 

you need a later system like the HP z420 (or newer)  which supports the E5-26xx v3 line of processors to have sse 4.2 support

 

or any system that uses a newer xeon than the E5-26xx/E5-16xx
