HP Z840 workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The boot sequence which starts with the LSI 2308 (MPT2 2014.03.12) is quite slow, and I'm wondering if a firmware upgrade is available, and whether that might speed up the process ?

I understand that Broadcom now owns LSI, so would their firmware update work for the HP Z840 ? If yes, is there a step by step guide for updating it ?

Thanks,

Dan

if you do not boot from a SAS/SCSI drive (you boot from a SSD or a SATA drive) then enter the bios and disable the onboard LSI bios (do not disable the LSI card, only the LSI boot bios) this will decrease the boot times as the LSI card will no longer pause while scanning for bootable devices. the devices attached to the SAS/SCSI ports will still be seen by windows but are no longer bootable

atempting to flash a non HP LSI bios stands a 99% chance of bricking the onboard controller, since it's a custom bios made just for the HP motherboard.

you can also disable the onboard network cards boot rom, unless you actually boot from a remote source
