You're very welcome.
It wasn't that easy.
I had to enter a general search in the HP part surfer website Z2 G8 SFF.
Then you get a ton of Z2 G8 SFF product numbers.
Then I went down the list until I found a Z2 G8 SFF product number that came with the SD card reader.

If the SD card reader is working, then the correct driver must be installed.

Yes, I guess it is just a generic USB card reader that needs no manufacturer's driver installed.
That's why you got one of those generic Microsoft drivers from 2006 and the device works.
I was thinking it might have been a Realtek SD card reader that is used in most HP notebook and consumer desktop PC's, but it isn't.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you get the SD card reader to work any better than it is now.
