Thank you for the assist.

I'm curious to know - How is this information obtained?

You're very welcome.

It wasn't that easy.

I had to enter a general search in the HP part surfer website Z2 G8 SFF.

HP PartSurfer

Then you get a ton of Z2 G8 SFF product numbers.

Then I went down the list until I found a Z2 G8 SFF product number that came with the SD card reader.

Is there a specific driver for this card reader?

the system uses generic Microsoft driver.  The performance is dismal.

If the SD card reader is working, then the correct driver must be installed.

What's the hardware ID for the SD card reader?

Not much info on hardware ID.  For some reason this morning it's recognized as SDXC card.  Performance was slightly better, but still much lower than expected

Yes, I guess it is just a generic USB card reader that needs no manufacturer's driver installed.

That's why you got one of those generic Microsoft drivers from 2006 and the device works.

I was thinking it might have been a Realtek SD card reader that is used in most HP notebook and consumer desktop PC's, but it isn't.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you get the SD card reader to work any better than it is now.

the z2 G5 card reader also works in the z2 G8
