Hello,
I own several HP EliteDesk 800 65W G4, with BIOS version 02.29.01 Rev.A (latest version) and prior.
I am facing issues regarding AMT/MEBx configuration reset.
This document (Setting up and configuring Intel AMT in HP Business Notebooks, Desktops, and Workstations), although not initially intended for my hardware, states that a full reset of AMT config is possible with the right option, and that default password is admin when the reset is done. Note that no document is available on my product page for this instruction. The instruction seems to be valid for the same BIOS family.
I successfully managed to find the option in the bios :
-> the pc restarts, and i am prompted with this, so i type Y :
But then, when entering ME interface (F10), and typing admin as a password :
Some people maganed to solve the issue on very similar hardware, see : : https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/comments/10u88xo/how_to_reset_intel_amt_mebx_password_on_hp/
I tried "admin", "ADMIN", and checked if my keyboard layout was in cause, to no avail. Also tried accessing ME interface directly after the reset, but it does not work either.
What am i doing wrong ?

to make this clear,.................
the bios password and the AMT password are SEPARATE ITEMS,
resetting one has no effect on the other
now the part where you are confused..........
HP enforces changing the default AMT password upon entering it for the first time
and as noted above this new password is not affected by resetting the Bios password
Once the AMT password has been changed from the default "admin" (lower case)
you will not be able to do a reset back to the default admin password
unless you first enter the (current/new) correct AMT password once this is done
you can then do a global AMT reset that resets all AMT settings back
to defaults including the current AMT password
if your current ATM is unset entering "admin" should allow access and then prompt for
a new AMT password before allowing any other action
note that HP does not allow any other help related to cracking/bypassing passwords
so no other help can be given on this user to user forum
you can however contact HP support directly and see if any other options are available
their numbers are posted on the bottom the main HP webpage

Thank you.
I did not confuse BIOS password with AMT/MEBx password. I did not mention anything about BIOS password at all. The screenshots details my experience with the AMT password only.
You are telling me that to reset the AMT password to default admin, I need to :
- do the things I did ;
- when prompted for the password, enter the old password ;
- then I will be prompted to create a new password
This however does not make sense. Why would such a feature not do what it says it does ("the password will be reset to default admin"). Why similar users with the same BIOS and very similar hardware managed to it while I cannot ?
I am not looking for a way to bypass or crack the password. I need help because the AMT "full reset to factory defaults" as said in the documentation is either confusing or does not work as intended.
Are you telling me I will not find any help on this forum ?
This is one of your answers about the exact same problem : https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/MEBx-Password-Rese...
Where is this statement from HP you are talking about ?

i thought i was quite clear on the HP AMT password sequence, and stated that if the AMT app is entered
the first thing it prompts is to change the default admin password
once this password is changed it must then be used in place of the default admin password
in order to access the AMT settings
HP does not allow any other help to be posted in their forums in regards to passwords other than what i posted
please read the HP forum rules for HP's stance on password resetting/removal/cracking
