Hi,
I need to build a little backup pc into my studio.
I've availble to use a "old "z400".
My plan are to use a little disc (250/500gb) as primary boot drive and add a couple of 6TB hard drive and create a raid 1 volume with them to use a backup platform.
Is it possible to install a couple of 6tb (or maybe even 8Tb) and create a raid volume with them on the Z400?
The operative system is the oem win7 installed on it.
I've seen several question on the forum here about problems with disc bigger than 2gb....but If i've understood well the problem were related to the boot disc....right?
Thanks a lot for any help

Hi Dgroves,
First of all, THANKS a lot for reply so fast to my question, I appreciate it 🙂
So, I can use the Z400 as i was planning to do?
A little ssd/hdd for the boot (max size 500gb) and a couple of BIG Sata drive (6tb or 8Tb each) for the raid 1 backup volume of the studio?
My intention is to recycle the z400 and use it as little backup server
Thanks again

A little update...I've just found this online.....
It says "All RAID arrays must be less than 2 TB, except for SATA RAID 0 Data Arrays."
So...for a Raid1 i can use a couple of 2TB drive maximum?

are you using Linux? if not then that OS's 2TB limitation does not apply to you
here's a HP link that covers raid setup for various configurations:

Hi Dgroves,
THANKS again for your reply 🙂
No I/m not using Linux. I'm using W7 pro
The 2TB restriction is only with Linux?
Anyway, my boot drive will be lower than 2TB.....just the Raid 1 array will use 6TB drive
p.s. Thanks for the link to 🙂
