Hi there, I have a question.
So im planning to buy a HP Z6 G4 and i was wondering if i need the memory fan because i heard on old hp workstations like z440 need the memory fan when more than 4 dimms and i will be using 4 dimms too on the z6 g4 so do i need the memory fan

The answer is yes. The HP QuickSpecs for that workstation, v58, released this month is attached below. Read up on memory cooling on page 14:
"Z6 G4 configurations that include a 2nd CPU require the HP Z6 Memory Cooling Solution, which is available both CTO
(2JA81AV) and AMO (2HW44AA). Z6 G4 configurations that include greater than 32GB total system memory require the
HP Z6 Memory Cooling Solution."
Those option part numbers are for the same part, and you can take a look at it via eBay by searching for either of those or 916799-001. You'd also want a front case cooling fan kit if it is not already present (915748-001).
Both of these run quietly...
p.s. CTO/AMO = Configured to Order/Aftermarket Option
