Memory upgrade

Dear Support Team,

I have a question about HP Z840 Workstation - RAM upgrade:

Whether the following memory models will be compatible:

- Hynix HPE 32GB 4Rx4 DDR4-2133P-L HMA84GL7MM4N-TF

- Samsung 32GB PC4-2133P-L LRDIMM M386A4G40DM0-CPB

this is a user to user forum,............... we are not HP support on these forums please keep this in mind.

HP does monitor these forums so they do respond from time to time

while generic ram usually stands a good chance on working in most systems

it's usually better if you don't know the in's and outs or ram on computer systems

to let the memory seller qualify the ram both kingston and crucial have websites to

match ram to a specific system

your Samsung 32GB PC4-2133P-L LRDIMM M386A4G40DM0-CPB is a "LR" Load Reduced module

LR dimms will not work with non LR dimms

your HYNIX HMA84GL7MMR4N-TF is also a "LR" type module

both should work in a z840 as long as all modules are LR type dimms

and if using different sized dimms the memory load order is important

refer to the side panel for some help on proper load order

but the information applies to the z840's ddr4 ram also
