Hi all,
I have an old Microserver N40L with equal drives a a lab machine. At one point I remember being able to access the onboard RAID functionality by activating RAID in the BIOS, and then with CTRL-F when the raid message comes on the screen during boot, accessing the raid configuration menu.
After setting it back to an ACHI config and formatting the drives for another project, I wanted to get back to setting up andother Raid 1 set, and after configuration the BIOS to RAID, no Raid message comes up to do the CTRL-F. I tried just pressing CTRL-F at various times during boot in case i missed it, but now I cannot access the Raid configuration. I know that the BIOS has registered the change because the drives are no longer accessible as they were in ACHI.
Any clues?
Thanks
Eskie

well first of all when having a problem i highly recomend you "RTFM" before or if having a problem
Microserver N40L manual:
https://gluhcdn.azureedge.net/cswit/productmanuals/1263940_0.pdf
and you will see that it's CTRL + C not "F" that invokes the raid config

yes ,..but if you post/read the FULL directions to raid creation setup you wil see that CTRL C is required
Creating a RAID volume:
1. Enable SATA RAID functionality in RBSU ("Enabling the SATA RAID feature in RBSU" on page 33).
2. After the system reboots, to activate the RAID option ROM Utility, press Ctrl+F.
3.Verify that two SATA drives are installed. Software and configuration utilities 34
4. In the Main menu screen, select LD View/LD Define Menu, and then press Ctrl+C.
The system prompts you to select levels for RAID 0 and RAID 1.
5. Select a RAID level, and give the assignment to the hard disks.
6. To provide the LD Name, press Ctrl+Y and save the setting.
in other words if you don't save the raid config then the CTRL F will not do anything since there is no array saved
once the array is saved you should be prompted to press F5 during boot for array config options
