HP Z210 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Thanks to the nice folks here on the forum, I found out that my Z210 is limited to the Sandy Bridge line of CPUs only.  I wanted to use an Ivy Bridge, but it's not to be, unfortunately.

Then another thought came to mind.  Could I swap my motherboard for a later one from another Zxxx Workstation since they are similar?  If so, which one(s) would you suggest?  Any hardware or software issues that would have to be addressed?

I know that is a drastic move just to gain a bit more performance, but it is something I'd like to do if feasible.  Thank you...

HP uses custom cases for most workstation models that do not have a removable rear I/O plate. the needed ports are simply stamped out

as i recall the rear I/O on the z210/220 (and other models) all have diffrent I/O arangements, so no you can not swap cases. also the power supplies are diffrent between the models

last motherboards are fairly expensive by themselves, you will do much better buying a barebones zxxx system and adding parts as money permits
