hi y’all new here
I have a 2013 Z420 with a xion 1602 v0 and I can’t get my PCISSD card to be recognized bios with a lag 2011 motherboard.. i’m not sure on what settings to change in bios I’ve changed the ones that I felt comfortable doing but I still can’t get PCI hard drive to 256gb SSD on a PCIe 16 'interface..
any help appreciated
one last thing what’s the BEST CPU for entry level gaming? Was thinking the E5 1060 v2 would this work???

if your ssd is a nvme based drive, you will be unable to boot from it as the Z "x20" line lacks the necessary bios code to support all current nvme drives as a boot device, however you can use a nvme drive as a non booting "data" drive
there were older nvme ssd's no longer in production that could boot as they included the missing boot code on the ssd's firmware
the intel 750 pro, 3500 and 3600 series ssd's and the samsung 950 pro will work
however the best option is the AHCI based samsung SM951 (not the nvme based sm951!!)
for gaming, a faster cpu speed is preferred over core count

i have personally tested the ssd models i mentioned on my z820's
just keep in mind that the bios must be changed to allow these ssd's to boot
this link goes into detail on booting/configuring said ssd's
or you can search this forum for my previous posts on this subject
i have also used the USB loader key method which loads the required nvme boot code method and helped several people to use this method but no longer recommend this method as the older used ssd models that can boot are now rather cheap used (for now as i write this)
